       TOP "C" TRAIL MIDLAND

On September 24, 2009 District 8, Georgian Bay Snowriders began construction of the Top C Trail re-route through Tay Township from the wooden trestle bridge located over the Wye river easterly to Highway 12 at Triple Bay Road.

This trail re-route will parallel portions of the paved Tay Shore Trail as well as cross the paved trail in a couple of areas.  A 60 feet bridge is being installed near the Wye Marsh in order to traverse a large wet area.  This trail re-route will then utilize the former spur rail line from the Tay Shore Trail to Triple Bay road and then run parallel along Triple Bay road to Highway 12.  The re-route then connects with the Top C Trail located on the former CP rail lands which are owned by the Georgian Bay Snowriders,  near the hole in the wall (former Highway 12 tunnel).

Thanks is owed to the National Trails Coalition (NTC) federal government funding program under the 2009-2010 National Trails Infrastructure Program, a key partner in Canada’s Economic Action Plan, as well as the Ontario Provincial Liberal government for their financial contributions.  In addition the Township of Tay and the Georgian Bay Snowriders are owed thanks for all their efforts in spearheading this project.

This trail re-route reestablishes a land based route for the Top C trail which connects Midland and Penetanguishene to the snowmobile trails to the north and east.  This project will augment and expand seasonal full time positions for trail maintenance, signing and grooming activities, as well as significant tourism spin off employment created in the service business sector, including restaurants, gas stations, and accommodations.

Our trails are maintained by volunteers; if you could spare some time EMAIus.                                 The season is approaching & we could use your help! Make the MOST of it! Thank you for supporting us.

Our network of trails cross private properties and some municipal lands for which the Landowners have graciously given us their permission to use. We brush, sign, groom and maintain these trails with the sale of Trail Permits, which are mandatory on all O.F.S.C member trails in Ontario. Our operations are also financed by fundraising events held by the club. Local Businesses also contribute through donations of money, services and promotions. Please buy your permit early and remember to "Buy where you Ride!". As permit sales are the main source of funding for each snowmobile club. So buy your permits from the club that grooms the trails that you use most. Remember, support the local businesses that support snowmobiling.
