The Georgian Bay Snowriders are a 100% VOLUNTEER based club made up of over 30 active volunteers, and a dedicated group of approximately 20 who each put in over 100 hours of their time for free.
Without all the combined efforts of our volunteers, each of our riders wouldn't have any trails to ride on. Our volunteers sign, stake, cut trail, speak to landowners, organize events, run training seminars, attend biweekly meetings, attend district meetings, attend conferences, attend training seminars, obtain permission from aprox. 90 landowners, get new Landowner agreements signed, keep the peace with our landowners, meet with town council members to go over trails, meet with the Midland Police & the OPP to discuss goals, patrol our trails to enforce permit compliance, plan driver training, organize grooming schedules, maintain the groomers, pick up signs and stakes from the manufacturer, etc. The list of jobs goes on and on. ONLY 6 of our volunteers out of 30 are retired, so, that means, 24 of them also work 9-5 jobs like you, and yet, they still offer their time for FREE. We are very thankful to our volunteers for all their efforts. We couldn't do it without such a great team!!!
So, before you complain about a trail condition / trail closure, remember, the behind the scene's people are all hard working volunteers, who give up their FREE time to make this all happen for YOU.
